Double Page Spread - Progress 2

Double Page Spread - Progress 2

I inserted a breakout box into the side of my page. I decided that by adding a red text box behind the text it would enhance my writing in a more effective way then adding a fully red background. I then started experimenting with different types of fonts and adding my facts and figures into my breakout box. I experimented with lines on the page, and I want to use lines to create a sharp, structured image, much like the double page spread I have looked at for inspiration, so I used lines above and below the text.

I am experimenting with background textures, and applying different fonts to my double page spread. I looked up different fonts on the websites: www.fontspace.com and www.dafont.com and eventually settled on the font Northwood High for my masthead, because it looks powerful and I like the eroded effect. Most of the time I have spent on the magazine so far includes creating text boxes for my article and organising layout. However, I have also spent time in Photoshop experimenting with cropping a photograph of a record I took, so that half of it was visible. I then cut out the record out with the magic wand tool, and applied a black background. I applied an outer glow using the blending options to achieve an interesting, dynamic effect, because I wanted the black record to stand out against the black background.
